Sitting aside the beautiful Shavers Fork River in Randolph County, West Virginia is Cheat Mountain Club. This historic retreat has been around for well over a century providing guests with a unique type of family style lodging in a spectacular wilderness setting. The cabins are located on 1 3/4 miles of private trophy water on the North Fork River. Our WV rental cabins are truly riverfront. The stream in front of your log cabin is privately stocked with trophy trout. The stream is managed as an artificial lures only catch and release stream. The stream is privately stocked by Harman's with rainbow, brown and brook trout. Two other Catch and Release sections of stream are located at Seneca Rocks and Smoke Hole. The State of WV stocks an additional 52 miles of stream with trout nearby. The North Fork River from Riverton to Cabins and the South Branch River from Franklin to Big Bend are stocked 12 weeks in a row from March to early June, then two times in October. The state managed put and take sections of stream are great for catching your evening dinner. The Smoke Hole Section of the South Branch River is the best trophy trout steam in WV. The South Branch River is a great summer bass fishing experience. The stream in the Smoke Hole section is accessible from a state rural route. The south branch from the Gap Bridge to the Fisher Bridge is managed as a catch and release stream. These 9 miles of stream have an abundant number of black bass, but is only accessible by canoe.
