Big River Camps, Inc operates two big game camps in Newfoundland and two fishing camps in Labrador. Fishing camps operate in July and August while the hunting camps operate during the months of September and October. The marshalling point for fishing is Goose Bay, Labrador and for hunting the check point is the Lakeland Motel Pasadena, Newfoundland. A flight of approximately forty-five minutes by bush plane takes you from Pasadena to the hunting camps. Eagle Mountain Lodge is located 35 miles north east of Deer Lake in the Main River Valley and is situated in the North Heartland of Newfoundland's wilderness. With elevations from 1300-2500 feet above sea level, snow is always plentiful allowing access to hundreds of miles of open country and rarely travelled trails.

Over the 15 years of our operation, guests of Grey River Lodge, including many novice anglers, have achieved very high standards of angling success while pursuing the very elusive Atlantic Salmon. Most of our fish are grilse in the four to six pound range, but we also get some larger eight to twelve pound salmon each year.

The incomparable Eagle River is born in the wilderness highland lakes of Labrador's Mealy Mountains. A large and brawling river, the Eagle flows through rugged canyons and seemingly impassable falls for 120 rough and tumble miles before emptying into Sandwich Bay on the Labrador Sea. The laws of natural selection have lead to the evolution of a strain of exceptionally strong salmon capable of mounting this difficult journey to the Highland spawning grounds. Many well-traveled anglers consider the Eagle fish the hardest fighting Atlantic salmon in the world.

Sandy Lake Lodge enjoys a healthy population of Moose,Caribou and Bears in the area surrounding its quiet and tranquil location. Not far away, the spring bears start looking for a free meal towards the end of May or first of June, depending on how late the winter hangs on. One can take a brief stroll to the lakeside in the early morning as the mist is slowly receeding and catch a limit of tasty brook trout for breakfast. In the spring, the many brooks and streams flowing through the valley floors, bring new life to the bogs and swamps which provide food and cover for the wild animals. As the days lengthen and the temperature rises, new growth starts springing up all around. The Rabbits, Beavers and Birds are very busy this time of the year.The whole Island seems to come alive What an experience for the family to witness. Sandy Lake Lodge offers some of the finest Trout fishing found anywhere. Whether you're in search of Mud, Brown, Brook or Speckled; and Quinaniche, you will find trophy catches only minutes from our Lodge.

Atlantic salmon are one of the best fighting fresh water game fish in the world and Newfoundland is still one of the few places left in North America where you catch these beauties. The Serpentine River has been known to produce salmon in excess of 20lbs. The river was once a favourite fishing destination for world class fly-fisher Lee Wulff. The crystal clear waters of the Serpentine make it an ideal habitat for sea-run trout which have been caught in excess of 5 lbs. We use freighter canoes to navigate the river and fish by wading. From the lake to the falls there are several pools where you can try your luck. The lodge consists of a separate guest house with hot and cold running water . Four double occupancy rooms and a large gathering room make up the interior of the guest lodge. Here you can sit back and relax next to a roaring fire after a day out in the bush. Meals and lunches are prepared each day by our on staff cook and the kettle is always boiled for a hot cup of tea or coffee. Linens and towels are provided. Electrical power is supplied by a generator and telephone service is available.

With the salmon fishing season running from the late days of June to the early days of September, there is plenty of time for Tuckamore's guests to score their big catch of the summer. Our Atlantic salmon weigh on average six to ten pounds but there have been more and more trophy salmon caught each year. Along with Atlantic salmon, guests at Tuckamore Lodge have the opportunity to go fishing for Brook Trout and Arctic Char.
