This is our 33rd year of providing the most comprehensive week of fly fishing instruction available on some of the worlds most famous waters. Our 2 to 1 student to instructor ratio allows us to work to any level of expertise from the beginner to very advanced fly fishers. We fish in three states (Idaho, Montana and Wyoming) from our perfect location at Elk Creek Ranch, 30 miles Southwest of West Yellowstone at Island Park, Idaho. Each person will float fish two rivers of different character in McKenzie drift boats, two anglers and guide-instructor per boat. You will fish a different type of water each day, which will include about every variety you will ever see from spring creeks to big Western rivers, or small streams if you want. Yes, we catch fish and yes, we have fun! Many people have said that our seminar week has accelerated their learning the sport by 9 to 10 years.

The most important person involved with a transaction is you and will always be you. We are a full service fly shop who has been helping folks have a better time on the water since 1994. We are very aware who makes our success possible and we do not take this for granted. We want to be there for the good times on the water and if the times are not so good we will be there with plenty of advice.

There are two things about me that remain constant. I Fly Fish. I write. There is no hierarchy to the order. I do both as frequently as I can get away with and I started this website so that I could share my experiences and observations via the written word.

Batise Springs Anglers is located near Pocatello Idaho, on the same ranch ground that Edward Nelson Rowland homesteaded in 1902. Our crystal clear, spring-creek water flows from the underground Snake River Aquifer. The creek is a constant 53 F that provides an excellent trout habitat where fish not only live, but flourish. Although the water flow varies slightly, you can expect 28-34 cubic feet per second at all times of the year. We offer excellent catch and release fishing for trophy Rainbow, Kamloop, Brown and Snake River Cutthroat trout that's easily accessible from just about anywhere. It's very common for fishermen to leave their home in northern Utah, western Wyoming or western Idaho at 7:30 am, and be on the water by 10:00 am, enjoying the second hatch of the morning. Fishermen can choose from the flexible Daily or Half-Day Fishing Permits, or affordable Annual Fishing Permits. Because the fish are privately owned, no state fishing license is required. We know the value fishing has on a young person's life, so we welcome anglers who want to pass on the tradition. The Blue Heron Inn bed and breakfast is the culmination of a 10-year dream of innkeepers, Dave and Claudia Klingler. The love of a beautiful home, the pleasure derived from sharing it with others, and the rewards of cooking lead them to inn keeping careers at the Blue Heron Inn bed and breakfast. Take your choice of the South Fork or the Henry's Fork of the Snake, the Teton River, Fall River, or Warm River. The South Fork flows right behind the Inn and is renowned for it's native cutthroat trout and record-setting waters for brown trout. A guest recently caught a 23 1/2' brown right behind the inn. And the innkeepers will gladly prepare your catch for breakfast. The best season for fishing the South Fork is from July through October. But there is excellent fishing action all year round. Imagine spending a beautiful sunny day floating the river from a McKenzie River drift boat, viewing abundant wildlife such as deer, moose, and beaver, watching eagles and ospreys fish for dinner, and enjoying lunch along the river. The Boise River Fishery began in March of 2007 as a means of gathering support for regulation changes on the lower Boise River. My objective was, and still is, to protect the river’s wild trout population and to create a quality destination for anglers. Since its inception, the site has expanded into a “Wild Trout Blog”. Photographs, information, and thoughts on fly fishing for trout and steelhead are now posted for the benefit of others who, like myself, are passionate about the sport.
